Price Of Nintendo 2DS Reduced
The price of the Nintendo 2DS will be reduced to $80 starting on the 20th of May, the company announced recently. When it was initially offered in 2013, it had a price tag of $130. In August 2015, the price was reduced to $100. The price cut is the second for the entry level game device.
Nearly all the games for the Nintendo 3DS can be played on the 2DS albeit without the 3D effect. The design of the system is its most outstanding feature since it does not have hinges. The company said the device is designed to allow it to be held with smaller hands. All Nintendo 2DS systems will have their price cut including the ones bundled with Mario Kart 7.
Aside from the reduction of the price of the device, Nintendo also announced two new games for the device. The two new games are Disney Magical World 2 and Style Savvy: Fashion Forward.
Disney Magical World 2 is a sequel to an earlier game bringing players to six worlds with the Disney theme. The popular animated movie “Frozen” served as the inspiration for one of these worlds. The characters appearing on the adventure game are Mickey Mouse, Goofy, Minnie Mouse, Anna, Elsa, Olaf, Donald Duck, Daisy Duck and Ariel. The game is set to reach the market by October 14.
On the other hand, Fashion Forward is the latest game under the Style Savvy game series. It comes with over 19,000 items, clothing and accessories. Amiibo support is also available for the game, giving players access to clothing and accessories with the Nintendo theme. However, it will be necessary to purchase an NFC reader for the Nintendo 2DS since it does not feature the technology unlike the 3DS. Style Savvy: Fashion Forward will be released on August 19.
As of March 31, sales of the Nintendo 2DS reached 58.85 million units. The next game system of the company may be a mobile/console hybrid that is expected to be released into the market in March 2017.
