Price Of Sony PlayStation 4 Reduced
The price tag of the Sony PlayStation 4 was reduced by $50 and will be available at $350 starting Friday. Aside from the price reduction, buyers also get a copy of either Star Wars Battlefield or Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection.
The new price also puts the video game console of Sony at the same level as the Xbox One of Microsoft. The reduction was not unexpected since a similar price cut was made in Japan a month ago. While Sony said no price announcements are in line for the Europe or Australia, it can address the price difference when it joins the Paris Games Show before the end of the month.
The Sony PlayStation 4 was launched in November 2013, the same month the Xbox One of Microsoft was unveiled. The rivalry of the two game consoles started during this time. GameSpot reported in September that sales of the PlayStation 4 have surpassed sales of the Xbox One since April.
However, the most important period for video console sales has been weeks before the start of the Christmas holiday season. To prepare for this period, Microsoft has been working on bundles for the Xbox One. Sales of the game console of Microsoft in the US increased by 25 percent in August compared to the same period last year.
The price of a number of game consoles and bundles have been reduced in the US market in recent weeks. The Sony PlayStation 4 with NHL 16 or the Limited Edition Call of Duty Black Ops III is priced at $430 while Star Wars Battlefront or Limited Edition Disney Infinity 3.0: Star Wars bundle is priced at $400.
