Prince William and Kate Middleton Get Warm Welcome in Canada

Prince William and Kate Middleton attended celebrations and festivities for Canada Day on Friday to the delight of fans of the royal couple in the Commonwealth country.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge distributed Canadian flags to 25 new citizens for the day, part of a busy schedule that will last nine days in what is officially their first trip abroad since tying the knot at Westminster Abbey on April 29, 2011. A speech will also be delivered by Prince William during Friday's celebration.

Fans of the royal couple cheered when their motorcade emerged from the Canadian Museum of Civilization. A few people were also present to protest the pledge of allegiance made by Canadians to Queen Elizabeth II who is officially the head of state of Canada.

Prince William and Kate Middleton arrived on Thursday to a warm welcome of thousands of Canadians. The royal couple waved and smiled to the crowd and shook hands with some well-wishers.

They proceeded to the National War Memorial where they were met by Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper and wife Laureen. The two couples then laid wreathes honoring departed war heroes and spoke with living war veterans.

Prince William and Kate Middleton were elegantly dressed for Canada Day celebrations. Kate wore a tight navy dress with lace overlay while William wore a blue suit with purple tie.

Canadians protesting against the British royalty are trying to make their stand known with planned demonstrations in Montreal and Quebec City but for elsewhere in Canada, fans and citizens are looking enthused with royal couple Prince William and Kate Middleton.
