Production Of Rumored iPad Pro May Be Delayed
Recent reports have indicated that production of the supposed 12.9-inch Apple iPad Pro may not start until fall. Due to this, the rumored large-screen tablet offering of Apple will not find its way into the hands of consumers until a later time.
Production of the tablet was supposed to start within this quarter. However, sources have indicated that some issues have pushed the start of production to September. The reason for the delay is mainly due to issues on the supply of its display screen.
No statements were released by Apple in connection to the report.
The tech giant has reportedly been working on an iPad that features a larger screen. The device was expected to reach the market within the year. The development of the large-screen tablet was aimed at attracting Mac users. The reported iPad Pro was also intended to improve the sales of its tablet devices.
The iPad and iPhone typically made up around two-thirds of the sales of the company. However, with the increasing sales of the iPhone, tablet sales have gone down. The iPad Mini 3 and iPad Air 2 were launched by Apple last October. However, the minimal modifications, which included the addition of faster processors, were not sufficient in increasing its appeal to consumers.
Sales of the iPad may have also been affected by a number of other factors, including the passing of older tablets to family and friends. This resulted to a reduced demand for the tablet among consumers who would have purchased their own devices. The upgrade cycle for tablets is longer compared to smartphones. Consumers normally receive a financial incentive whenever they upgrade their smartphones every two years. For the moment, Apple has yet to make significant changes to its tablet offering to encourage consumers to go out and immediately get one. It remains to be seen if the reported iPad Pro will turn the tide for the iPad of Apple.
