Project Fi Offered Without Invitation

The Project Fi service of Google was launched around ten months ago as an invite-only network. Some subscribers took around three months before they received the invitation. However, online search giant announced recently that the service will be available for anyone in United States to sign up even without an invitation.

The only thing customers need is a handset compatible with the service, and Google revealed that the Nexus 5X will be priced at $199 if customers will sign up for its service. The normal price tag of the Nexus 5X is at $349, which makes the offer appealing to new customers of the service.

Google revealed that 15 percent of users of Project Fi used the service outside the United States. The service is supported in over one-hundred twenty countries. More than fifty percent are using public hotspots in connecting to the network through the Wi-Fi Assistant each week. Data usage among customers was at 1.6GB for each month. Customers also have the tendency to talk with support personnel and majority of its customers talk with actual persons in twenty seconds or less.

The service also gave credits back whenever data is not used. Since the cost of the service is low, it is expected for some customers to use Project Fi as their primary service in the future.

Data usage is not counted on the plan fees of customers whenever they use Wi-Fi to connect. The price of the Fi Basics service is at $20. This plan offers users unlimited text messages, unlimited calling along with 24/7 customer support. The billing for data is at $10 for every GB of data used. When data usage falls below the level that they pay for, they will receive credits. Project Fi customers are charged based on the data they use with the service.
