Randy Travis Still In Critical Condition After Surgery

Randy Travis went through surgery after he experienced a stroke recently, according to his publicist Kirt Webster. The website of the hospital indicated that the country singer was already out of surgery but was in critical condition.

Webster indicated that Travis was being treated for congested heart failure, and the stroke was a complication of the condition. Webster added that updates will be released when they are available.

The turn of events came after doctors announced that Travis already showed signs of improvement.

Dr. William Gray indicated that the singer was initially admitted last Sunday into Baylor Medical Center with a possible cardiomyopathy along with congestive heart failure. By Monday, he was moved to The Heart Hospital, according to Dr. Michael Mack.

Dr. Mack indicated that Randy Travis needed specialized care in a joint decision by his doctors. Due to this, he was moved to The Heart Hospital.

A device was implanted into the heart of Travis to enhance blood flow. The device was implanted before he was moved to The Heart Hospital.

Webster indicated that the illness of Travis was linked to the viral cardiomyopathy that the singer acquired recently. He was supposed to perform in Deadwood, South Dakota following performances in Chicago and Detroit.

Nothing unusual was noted in Randy Travis when he attended meetings last Friday and Saturday.

Viral cardiomyopathy results from virus attacks on heart muscles that result to a slower heartbeat, the website of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention revealed.

The country singer led the “New Traditionalist” movement in the 80s and 90s. However, his popularity gradually ebbed in the 90s. He started a comeback in 1999 through gospel music, and he won awards for the song “Three Wooden Crosses” in 2003.

Randy Travis is among the best-selling country music artists, and has won ten Academy of Country Music awards, ten American Music awards and seven Grammys.
