Release Date Of “The Amazing Spider-Man 3” Pushed Back
The release of “The Amazing Spider-Man 3” was pushed back by Sony Pictures recently to give way to the November 11, 2016 release of “The Sinister Six.” The latest Spider-Man movie starring Andrew Garfield was initially set to be released in June 2016, but the recent announcement has pushed back its release to 2018.
“The Sinister Six” will highlight a group of Spider-Man super villains. It will be under the direction of Drew Goddard. Goddard is the director and co-writer of “Cabin in the Woods.” He is also the executive producer of an upcoming Marvel Comics-inspired series, “Daredevil.” The project, which will be aired through Netflix, will have Charlie Cox playing the role of the blind superhero.
The “Amazing Spider-Man 3” is expected to be directed by Marc Webb following the success of the two previous installments of the franchise. The 2012 film grossed $758 million while the 2014 sequel earned $706 million. The indie director is known for directing “(500) Days of Summer,” starring Zooey Deschanel and Joseph-Gordon Levitt.
His adaptation of the Marvel Comic superhero was a blockbuster as domestic box office sales earned at least $262 million. It also earned the director praise, mainly due to the onscreen chemistry of Garfield and Emma Stone.
The second installment of the rebooted franchise saw Peter Parker going up against the Rhino, Green Goblin and Electro. Paul Giamatti played the role of the Rhino, who is also known as the Eastern Bloc criminal Aleksei Sytsevich, while Dane DeHaan played the role of Harry Osborn, also known as the Green Goblin. Electro, previously a meek employee of Oscorp, was played by Jamie Foxx.
Aside from the announcement of the new release date for “The Amazing Spider-Man 3,” Sony also announced that the release date of “Uncharted” will be on June 10, 2016.
