Release Of High-End Microsoft Surface Pro Moved To December
The delivery date for the high-end Microsoft Surface Pro 2 tablets appeared to have been moved to the middle of December.
The online store page of the company shows a December 15 ship date for the 256GB Microsoft Surface Pro 2. The same delivery date is also reflected for the 512GB model of the device. The 256GB and 512GB models have a price tag of $1,299 and $1,799 respectively.
The company told consumers to purchase the latest version of its tablet offering before it is sold out in the market. When the announcement was made, the ship date for the devices was moved to October 28, which is nearly a week after the October 22 delivery date of the devices. However, no statements were released by the company to explain the situation.
The changes in ship date did not affect the other models of the device as well as its other add-on merchandise.
There appeared to be no issues in the sales of the 32GB and 64GB models of the Microsoft Surface Pro 2 tablets. It remains uncertain if retailers have backordered the high-end models of the device. For the moment, some retailers have not indicated the ship date of the tablets.
Microsoft had announced earlier that the latest models of its tablet devices will be available through its physical retail outlets. The company is planning a number of midnight launches of the device in twelve participating retail outlets. The event will signal the official launch of the Microsoft Surface Pro 2 tablet. The company aims to attract 1,500 consumers at its store in Orlando, Florida.
The device has been positioned by Microsoft as a high-end notebook in tablet form. Initial benchmarks for the device show a small enhancement in performance. However, the Microsoft Surface Pro 2 will offer the capability of playing some of the last-generation video games.
