Remains of Jenni Rivera Identified

A Mexican government official revealed that the remains of Jenni Rivera was finally identified and was already turned over to the family of the music star. The private jet carrying Rivera crashed last Sunday in a mountainous area in the Nuevo Leon state in Mexico.

In addition to the remains of Rivera, the remains of her publicist and the co-pilot of the plane were also identified as well, according to Jorge Domene, a Nuevo Leon spokesman. The identification of Rivera’s remains was made after DNA samples were compared with a swab from Lupillo, the brother of the singer.

Pedro Jr., another brother of the singer revealed that Rivera left a letter that specified that her body should not be cremated. It also instructed that her remains should be turned over to her siblings. He also indicated that the letter was prepared by Rivera over a month ago. For the moment, plans for the funeral have yet to be finalized although a memorial may be held in Mexico for the singer.

The communications and transportation secretary said that it may take up to a year before the accident report will be ready.

Jenni Rivera was adored by her Mexican fans due to her performances of Mexican regional ballads and was also known as the Diva of Banda Music or “La Diva de la Banda. Her personal strength and strong voice reflected the nickname she was given by her fans.

Rivera copped a pair of Billboard Music Awards and has sold around fifteen million records. Jenni Rivera was also included in the 25 most powerful women list by the People en Espanol last October.
