Rested Serena Williams tops Bank of the West Classic Tournament
Stanford, California — Serena Williams now back at her winning form after capturing the title for the Bank of the West Classic Sunday. Williams trounced Marion Bartoli with a winning score of 7-5, 6-1.
The win was very memorable for Serana Williams. She never thought she could play tennis again after serious health issues threatened her tennis career. She had to skip a year of tennis tournaments since 2010 just to recover from her injuries and health problems. Blood clots were seen from Serena’s lungs and were considered very serious. She also suffered two foot injuries and went to have two major foot operations. Despite the threats, she was able to recover within a year and played the game of her life: Tennis. Sweeter, her recent comeback was a tournament win.
Serena Williams won 13 major tournaments in tennis and she is considered already as a force to reckon with. After winning the first set by a close score of 7-5, she never gave her opponent a chance by scoring the first 5 points to nil. The second set ended with a score of 6-1.
Bartoli is ranked number 9 in the world. With Williams’ win, she is now ranked number 80 after entering the contest as unseeded at 169th in the rankings. Serena Williams is now looking forward to the upcoming U.S Open late August this year.
