Ricky Rubio Apologizes To Coach For Outburst

Ricky Rubio, the Timberwolves guard apologized to current coach Terry Porter for his outburst in the 4th quarter of the loss the Timberwolves suffered at the hands of the Brooklyn Nets.

The reason for the outburst was apparently caused by Coach Porter’s refusal to put Ricky Rubio in the game, at a time when J.J. Barea was doing very well in his position. Ricky Rubio apparently snapped when he wanted to check in with 4 minutes left in the game but was called back by Porter.

Rubio said in his statement on Friday “I apologized to him because it came out like I was saying something against him, and I never went against him. It was something against me, by myself, because I was frustrated with me because I didn't play.”

With Ricky Rubio being allowed just 28 minutes of game time after returning from last month’s difficult left knee surgery the fact that he had 4 minutes left out of his 28 might have caused him to be a little more frustrated.

Porter is acting coach of the Minnesota Timberwolves while Rick Adelman is taking a break being by his sick wife’s side.

The coach addressed the Ricky Rubio situation by saying “I don't think it ever was really an issue…He was frustrated like any player would be who wants to be playing the fourth quarter”.
