Rihanna Promotes Barbados Travel In New Ad Campaign

Rihanna, the pop-r&b singer and superstar, has gone viral with the sexy ads promoting travel in the Caribbean, especially in Barbados.

The campaign was paid for by the Barbados Tourism Authority and has been very active on all the social media sites. It consists of a video that shows Rihanna, a Barbados native, walking around a Barbados beach, playing in the ocean, riding a bicycle in a more rural setting, and playing dominoes on the beaches with the locals; all while her song “Diamonds” played in the background.

The campaign began with Rihanna, using her immense number of social media fans and posting on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram with the hashtag #Barbados.

The R&B singer has close to 63 million followers on Facebook, 26 million on Twitter and close to 3 million fans on Instagram. Fans that go to the Visit Barbados Facebook page can also enter a competition to win more Rihanna-related prizes.

Petra Roach, from the Barbados Tourism Authority, said “We are really pleased with how our campaign has combined heritage with innovation to differentiate Barbados … As a girl I remember how important and significant these locations were to me.”  The Rihanna based campaign is scheduled to run on all social media forms until February 2013.
