Russian Olympic Champions Receive Brand New Audi Cars

Russian athletes who won medals in the 2012 London Olympics were awarded by Russian President Vladimir Putin with foreign luxury cars in a ceremony happened in Moscow, Kremlin last Wednesday. 29 gold medalists were given an Audi A8 sedan, while the silver medalists received an A7 hatchback. Russian Athletes, who won bronze medals, were also awarded with A6 sedan.

Aside from the brand new Audi cars, executive director Alexander Katushev, stated that all of the Olympics champions were also given the privilege to skip the extensive registration process in the Russian government.

''On behalf of all Russian supporters, I want to thank you for your performance and our country's success in these Olympics,'' Putin said.

However, the awarding of Audi cars to the athletes received a lot of negative feedback. In one of Russia’s famous internet forum, Russian internet users condemned the said awarding of luxurious gifts and questioned why it was considered gifts coming from President Putin when in fact, tax payers’ money was the one used in purchasing the gifts.Hints of sarcasm were also highlighted when one of them said that the reason why foreign cars were given to the athletes instead of Russian cars was because of its poor quality.
