Ryan Gosling Pays Tribute To Ryan McHenry
Ryan Gosling made a fitting tribute to Ryan McHenry by eating a bowl of cereal. McHenry was a Scottish filmmaker who made a number of online comedy videos poking fun at Gosling. The Edinburgh native passed away a week ago due to bone cancer.
The 27-year-old McHenry was battling the disease for the past two years. He was the person behind a series of video montages posted on Vine with the title “Ryan Gosling Won’t Eat His Cereal.” In one of the videos, it showed Gosling nearly eating the breakfast snack.
The videos became viral in 2013 and allowed Ryan McHenry to get a social media award. The short films showed McHenry holding a spoonful of cereal close to the TV and timed it with the on-screen actions of the star to make it appear that Gosling did not want to eat it.
The Edinburgh College of Art alumni was suffering from osteosarcoma, and was diagnosed with tumors inside his lungs. Despite his condition, he used social media to show how he struggled with the disease. Gosling paid tribute to the filmmaker by eating cereal and posting the video on Vine.
The star also showed his sympathy to the family and friends of McHenry through Twitter. The Vine clip shows the actor pouring cereal and milk into a bowl before toasting a spoonful and eating it.
The tribute of Gosling was described as a “fitting send-off” by McHenry’s friend, Naysun Alae-Carew. Gosling recently acknowledged the vines, which made McHenry happy. Alae-Carew added that the vines were mainly made to make people laugh. However, the acknowledgement from Gosling shows the influence of Ryan McHenry in the world.
Prior to this, Gosling remained silent on the viral videos of McHenry.
My heart goes out to all of Ryan McHenry's family and friends. Feel very lucky to have been apart of his life in some small way.

McHenry said in 2013 that the level of success of the videos was insane, and he was receiving notifications showing it was re-tweeted or shared every now and then. He added that the popularity did not focus on one social class due to the superstar status of Gosling. McHenry also indicated that he wanted to know the thoughts of Gosling on the videos. Ryan McHenry made another video last year after the the cancerous tumors in his lung was removed. His friends helped him by bringing his computer into the hospital a few hours. He said in the video that seventeen small tumors were removed from one lung. Although he was thinking about a lot of videos to make while he was in the hospital and wanted to wait until he went home, he was able to convince some friends to bring the equipment into the hospital. He also made another video showing Leonardo Di Caprio falling after he was offered cereal. Since he still had a scar from the operation, his friends held up the spoon. The friends of the filmmaker created a page in his memory to accept donations for Sarcoma UK, a cancer charity. His friends said the page was an appropriate way to honor the life of Ryan McHenry since it provided a positive impact on the people who are currently suffering from the disease.
