Sam Simon of “Simpsons” Fame Donates To Charity As He Is Diagnosed With Cancer
Sam Simon, “The Simpsons” co-creator is donating a large amount of his wealth after he was diagnosed with terminal colon cancer and given between 3 and 6 months to live back in March.
The 58 year old producer didn't take the news too hard, and rather than concentrate on what he won’t be able to do, he focused on what he can, and will donate a large amount of money to his favorite charities.
Simon who is known to be a philanthropist usually donated to charities like PETA, Save the Children, the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society and his Own Sam Simon Foundation that concentrates on feeding and saving stray dogs.
He announced the large donations back in May while being interviewed by comedian Marc Maron on his podcast called “WTF With Marc Maron”.
He also talked to “Hollywood Reporter” journalists and said that his donations bring comfort among the shock of being diagnosed with the terminal cancer.
He also said that as he doesn't have a wife or children, and that the emergency operation he had as he was septic was a real eye opener. He added that after he woke up, setting his affairs in order wasn't something he looked at as an obligation but rather something he enjoyed doing.
