Samsung Galaxy S7 May Be Launched In January
Reports revealed that the design for the Samsung Galaxy S7 was already finalized by the South Korean tech giant last month and it is currently working on securing all the necessary components for production to start. With this, the launch of the latest flagship smartphone of Samsung will reportedly be moved to January.
With the early entry into the high-end smartphone market, the company aims to provide consumers another option with its new flagship smartphone. A different launch window may allow the new smartphone offering of Samsung to undermine the sales of the Apple iPhone 6S. Apple and Samsung produce the most popular smartphones in the world and often have no other competition in the high-end market aside from each other.
But, a report from TrendForce revealed that annual smartphone shipments of Samsung may decline for the first time. While profits of the company have declined for seven straight quarters, it is expected to grow in October. Since the Samsung Galaxy S6 did not perk up sales of the company when it was launched in March, the company may have decided to move the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S7 earlier to increase its chances in the market. The move may encourage consumers to think twice of buying an iPhone.
The top smartphone offerings of Samsung have traditionally been launched during major international tech conferences. The Galaxy S6 was launched in March during the Mobile World Congress. However, the company organized an event last August for the launch of the Galaxy Note 5, instead of waiting for the IFA trade show in September.
The schedule change may be a part of the overall strategy of Samsung for its smartphones. The company is also expected to offer a sub premium smartphone for consumers looking for a solid yet affordable smartphone.
No statements were released by Samsung in connection to the supposed early launch of the Samsung Galaxy S7.
