Samsung Galaxy View Unveiled
The official images of the Samsung Galaxy View, which was initially teased during the Berlin trade show last month, were unveiled by the South Korean tech giant recently. The 18.4-inch tablet is a video-watching device designed for people who travel a lot.
Multiple angles of the huge tablet were shown on the images posted on the blog of the company. The video-centric interface of the device, which is among the unique devices unveiled by Samsung, features a home screen dedicated for media applications. The home-entertainment device is mainly aimed at people who watch videos from multiple locations. So far, the device does not have any competition in the market.
The display of the Samsung Galaxy View has a 1920 x 1080 screen resolution as well as a 2.1MP camera in front. The device also comes with a 1.6GHz octa-core processer, 2GB RAM and a 5700 mAh battery that is capable of playing videos for around eight hours. The View will be available with an internal memory of 32GB or 64GB, which is expandable through the use of a microSD memory card.
But, the device will not feature the Android Marshmallow mobile OS since it will run the predecessor of the latest mobile OS of Google, the Android Lollipop. The device is touted to be the biggest Android-powered mobile device in the world. However, its 2.65 kg weight makes it less mobile compared to the current crop of smartphones or tablets in the market. The handle at the back facilitates its mobility. It also comes with its own kickstand to allow it to stand on its own.
For the moment, the price and release date of the Samsung Galaxy View has yet to be revealed by the South Korean company.
