Samsung Gear S Set To Be Released On November 7 At The US Market

The Samsung Gear S smartwatch is set to be released through a number of mobile service providers next month. The 3-G enabled device allows users to receive and place calls as well as check emails and receive notifications even without being tethered to a smartphone.

The smartwatch offering of the South Korean electronics giant is set to enter the US market by November 7. Customers can choose from two color options of the Gear S, which will be offered by AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon Wireless and Sprint. The device will also be offered through the Samsung Experience Ships at Best Buy.

The Samsung Gear S was initially launched last August. It features a curved 2-inch Super AMOLED screen display and uses the Tizen mobile OS of Samsung. The Gear S also comes with a 1GHZ dual processor and the S Health fitness application of Samsung along with the Nike+ Running.

The Gear S is the first device in the lineup of Samsung that includes a 3G cellular radio, which allow users to connect to carriers in sending and receiving calls without being tethered to a smartphone. The technology is different from other wearable devices currently available in the market.

The Apple Watch requires a connection with an iPhone to ensure many of its features will function. Similar devices offered by Motorola and LG also require them to be connected to a mobile phone.

The Gear S is set to be offered by AT&T in the coming week with a price tag of $200 with the usual two-year service contract. On the other hand, the Easy Pay system of Sprint allows customers to acquire the device for twenty-four $16 monthly payments without any down payment. A similar deal from T-Mobile allows customers to get the device at $14.58 every month for two years without any money down. Verizon did not reveal its pricing for the Samsung Gear S.
