Samsung Pay Available On Select Devices

The Samsung Pay app can now be downloaded by Verizon subscribers. The mobile payments app of the South Korean tech giant is available for a select number of smartphones through the Google Play Store. Among the phones that can download the app are the Samsung Galaxy S6, Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge, Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge + and the Samsung Galaxy Note 5.

The mobile payment app of Samsung can be used on any payment terminal since it features a Magnetic Secure Transmission technology. An electromagnetic coil inside the device is used by the technology to emulate the magnetic stripe of a physical card. In comparison, Android Pay of Google has limited options when it comes to mobile payment.

The Samsung mobile payment app can also be used on NFC-enabled terminals, similar to Android Pay. Since Samsung wanted to expand its reach in the software market, it offered its own custom version of the Android mobile OS with TouchWiz. The company is also offering a number of branded services like Galaxy Apps and Milk Music.

Its mobile payment app is another venture into the software market. But, Samsung Pay will have to work hard to be able to get a good share in the market since Android Pay is being promoted by Google and a number of major banks. The mobile payment option of Google is also available on all Android phones featuring an NFC chip.
