San Francisco 49ers Seem Favorites In Super Bowl XXIV

The San Francisco 49ers seem to have everything on their side as they arrived this week in New Orleans for Super Bowl XXIV.

The last time the 49ers were in a Super Bowl final was way back in 1990, when they were also considered huge favorites against the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XLVII.

The 49ers were considered 12 point favorites but that wasn't close to what they had in mind as they obliterated their opponents from the very first minutes of the game.

With an unstoppable Joe Montana the 49ers had a halftime lead of 27 to 3. Denver tried and managed to score their only touchdown in the second half but the 49ers were unstoppable that night beating the Broncos by an incredible 55-10.

This is still the biggest margin by which a team has won in Super Bowl history.

Joe Montana was named the MVP after having 22 out of 29 complete passes in what was the best night in San Francisco's history.

Statistics of that legendary game show just how dominant they were in Super Bowl XLVII with San Francisco beating the Broncos at everything from ball possession to first downs to turnovers.

The present day 49ers are returning to New Orleans to try to match their predecessors performance although any type of victory would be welcomed by fans and would keep New Orleans the 49ers lucky city.
