Seattle Police Did Not Re-Open Kurt Cobain’s Case
Seattle Police quenched rumors that any new investigation is being started in the case of Kurt Cobain’s suicide. Fans the world over have gone into a frenzy after the media picked up that the case might be re-opened with new evidence being presented.
Seattle local authorities quickly responded via Twitter clearing up the rumors and confirming that no new investigation is under way. The tweet said that despite “erroneous news reports” the Seattle Police department is not launching a new investigation into the suicide of the talented musician.
Authorities also confirmed that there has been some activity regarding the case but in no way was it close to what the media speculated. According to Seattle Police, detective Renee Witt reviewed certain details from the closed case in preparation for the 20 year anniversary of the sad event.
Detective Witt also revealed that four rolls of 35 mm film that were taken at the scene of death were developed this February, however, they contain no new information and change nothing as far as the conclusion of the investigation goes.
Kurt Cobain was found dead on the 8th of April 1994 in his Seattle home with a gunshot wound to the head. According to the coroner’s report at the time, the musician also injected a “possibly lethal” dose of heroin before committing suicide.
