Seattle Seahawks Come From Behind To Earn Super Bowl Trip
The Seattle Seahawks came from behind to win a trip to the Super Bowl in the NFC championship game. The Green Bay Packers wasted number of opportunities to put away the most important game of the season. Seattle linebacker Bruce Irvin said it was crazy for them to win with five turnovers.
The comeback was the third-largest in the history of conference championship games. Seattle safety Earl Thomas said he was clueless as to how they won the game. Prior to the game-winning touchdown pass of Seattle, Russell Wilson had four previous attempts to connect with Jermaine Kearse intercepted by Green bay. However, the quarterback recognized the cover-zero pass defense of the Packers just before the game-winning pass to Kearse.
Wilson called a play the team had practiced continuously during the week, which had similar results. The pass of Wilson to Kearse was described as exquisite by Coach Pete Carroll.
Green Bay lost a number of opportunities in the first quarter with a number of field goals sputtering along the goal line. An Aaron Rodgers pass was also intercepted by the Seattle Seahawks, which ended along the 29-yard line of Seattle.
Seattle wide receiver shouted at the end of the game that games are won in the second half and not in the first half. The fact that Green Bay was playing it safe was highlighted when Morgan Burnett slid to the ground after interception a Wilson pass. It appeared that the Packers started to relax a bit too early in the game.
An onsides kick by Steven Hauschka was recovered by Seattle wide receiver Chris Matthews after Brandon Bostick failed to grab a hold of the football. The defense of Green Bay also faltered as they could not stop Lynch from making a 24-yard touchdown near the end of the game.
The Seattle Seahawks will face the New England Patriots on February 1 at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.
