Sherlock Special Coming In 2015

A “Sherlock” special is set to be released in 2015 according to the creators of the BBC One drama. The one-time special will be followed by a three-episode series, which will also be released in 2015.

Filming of the special will start in January and the series will follow soon after. Mark Gatiss, co-creator of the award-winning television show, revealed that the fourth series will bring Sherlock Holmes into darker water together with John Watson. Martin Freeman, who plays Watson, earlier inadvertently revealed a one-time special of the show.

He said that there may be a Christmas special during a recent interview.

Freeman also revealed that Amanda Abbington, his real-life partner, will reprise the role of Mary, the new wife of Watson. Although the previous series started with the famed detective returning from the dead, the network revealed that the fourth series will be the most surprising series of the drama.

Series co-creator Steven Moffat said that it is too early to reveal what is on the next series, they are confident that audiences will not expect what will happen to the Holmes and Watson. Moffat is an executive producer and writer of the show together with Gatiss.

Gatiss revealed that the team was thrilled about the return of the show.

Due to the increasing popularity of the creators and the actors, it was not easy for them to make a commitment in filming the show until recently. Charlotte Moore, BBC One controller, revealed that it was not easy to get the most brilliant writers and actors for the filming of the show.

Benedict Cumberbach is set to star in the movie “The Imitation Game” as Alan Turing. On the other hand Freemen recently appeared on the television drama “Fargo.”

Hartawood Films’ Sue Vertue said it took a while before sorting out the days since the actors and writers were quite busy recently. Hartswood Films is the company responsible for the television drama for BBC One. Vertue added that everyone worked together to make sure the Sherlock special and series four will be coming back on the small screen.
