Shopping For The Holidays And Its Environmental Repercussions

The year is coming to an end and as always the Holidays are closing in and that can only mean one thing, holiday shopping.

Starting with Black Friday and ending with Christmas, there is a whole list of gifts to buy for relatives and loved ones. Some people wait all year for an occasion like this, to show that special someone that they care by buying them something they've always wanted.

All this sounds fine and is one of the reasons people love the Holidays so much, however, one aspect most people forget is the environmental impact the Holidays have.

Travelling from shop to shop trying to find that perfect gift sounds like a good idea but it also means we burn through a lot of gas. A good alternative would be to look up some local shops that are close to each other and do our shopping there.

Online ordering is also great as we can order just about anything we want to, however the great distances our products have to travel don’t make this solution very eco-friendly either.

Another aspect that has a big impact on the environment is the packaging we choose for our presents, so selecting a gift with little to no packaging would be great, and if a nicely wrapped present is important at least try to recycle the packaging paper so we can make out Holidays as green as they are merry.
