Skip Holtz New Head Coach At Louisiana Tech

Louisiana Tech seems to want to go in a different direction and has hired a new head coach in the person of Skip Holtz.

Holtz came from South Carolina where he assembled a team that managed to get a 16-21 record and one bowl victory in the last three years.

Skip Holtz comes to Louisiana as Sonny Dikes the ex-coach, is leaving to take a job at California. Sonny Dikes had a 22-15 record at Louisiana Tech. and one bowl defeat since he was announced as head coach back in 2010.

Skip Holtz said in an interview “Thank you very much. It is certainly an honor to be standing in front of you here today. Coach Dykes did a great job with this football team in laying a foundation that I look forward to carrying on… The image that this university holds around the country is one that is of great pride in Ruston and the state of Louisiana. I’m excited to have the opportunity to build on the academic success demonstrated here. There are plenty of challenges when you walk into a new conference, and a lot of excitement and a lot of great challenges ahead.”

Skip Holtz comes from a family of coaching greatness, being the son of ex Notre Dame and Minnesota head coach Lou Holtz.
