Smokin’ Joe Frazier Dead at 67 Due to Liver Cancer
The whole world is mourning the untimely loss of a once boxing hero, Joe Frazier. Frazier, formerly known as the heavyweight champion died at the age of 67 on November 7, 2011 after a brief battle from liver cancer. Muhammad Ali and Floyd Mayweather was also saddened with unexpected death of Joe Frazier.
Also known as Smokin’ Joe, Frazier defeats his former opponents with his powerful punches and persistent attacks. With his unique fighting style inside the ring- his head low and bobbing and his broad shoulders hunched – boring down his opponents with withering jabs and body blows, proving that he is indeed a formidable figure.
His battle with Muhammad Ali, “Thrilla in Manila” Championship in October 1975 was known to be the greatest and historic fight in the history of boxing. With his one eye swollen, the battle ended with Frazier losing to his epic rivalry, Muhammad Ali in the 15th round.
It’s true that Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier were once longtime rivals, but outside of the boxing ring the two men watches each other’s backs. His death was a great loss to the history of boxing and his furious punches with Muhammad Ali will continue to be a legend.
