Some Users Affected By Snapchat Outage

An extended outage hit Snapchat recently preventing users from using the application. Even as the issue was acknowledged by the image-based messaging service, it did not give any indications when the service will be fully restored for the affected users.

A tweet from the verified Twitter account of the support team of the service indicated that they were already aware of the loading issues some users were experiencing. The team also said they were already working on dealing with the issue.

The service is a fast-growing image and video sharing service with around six billion users viewing videos every day in November. Tech service outages are not unusual, which is particularly true among services experiencing fast growth. However, these outages can be a major issue for individuals who use these applications as their main method of communication.

A good number of users complained of experiencing loading issues due to the outage. One user went to Twitter with the issue, indicating that the app was not refreshing after the installation of the latest update for the app. A number of users indicated that they were receiving error messages. These users said the service could not be restored even after they logged out and logged in again.

The site Down Detector revealed that the issues with the users of Snapchat started to appear at 2:37 AM PT. Down Detector also revealed that 41 percent of users who were experiencing the issue were unable to log into the service or they could not connect to the server of the app. On the other hand, a small number of users could not send or receive snaps. They were also unable to refresh the app. Down Detector is a site that collates reports of outages experienced by users.

No other statements were released by Snapchat in connection to the issue.
