The Sony Xperia C3 was launched recently in Taiwan, and is reportedly designed to be the ultimate smartphone for selfies. This is mainly due to the front-facing LED flash for the five-megapixel front-facing camera of the smartphone. Aside from the LED flash for its front-facing LED flash, the smartphones also comes with a number of selfie camera applications.

One application bundled with the smartphone allows users to integrate animation and digital props into the face of the person. It also features a movie creation application and photo editing application. The social live application will give users the capability of streaming a live broadcast straight into Facebook.

The Sony Xperia C3 was developed to provide users with the best social sharing experience, the company revealed. The smartphone also combines the best offerings of the company, such as notable specifications, remarkable digital imaging technology and a mid-range price.

Xperia marketing director of Sony Mobile Communications Calum MacDougall said the popularity of selfies has increased by 17,000 percent over the past two years. The term has become an official entry in the Oxford English Dictionary. He added that the company is eager to offer the first PROselfie smartphone in the market, which will play a role in the global trend.

The new smartphone offering of Sony offers a 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon processor, 5.5-inch IPS display, and the Android 4.4 mobile OS. The display screen of the smartphone has a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels.

The smartphone also features a 1GB RAM and 8GB internal memory that can be expanded up to 32GB using a microSD memory card. The smartphone will reportedly have a talk time of 24 hours, standby time of 1,071 hours and continuous video playback time of 10 hours.

Although the Sony Xperia C3 is set to be released in the international market by August, it remains uncertain when it would be released into the US market.
