Spotify Launches New Feature For Its Users

Spotify recently launched a new feature aimed at providing an ideal soundtrack for its users while they are on their morning or afternoon run. The new app allows users to use the sensor of their smartphone to check the tempo of their run and select a song best suited for their pace.

The new feature comes after the Swedish company introduced short video clips into the service. Gustav Söderström, chief product officer of the company, said a “euphoric feeling” can be created with the use of a perfect song during the run.

The new feature is expected to become appealing to people who cannot find the most suitable song for their run. On the other hand, the company aims to target a certain demographic of users in the market. It will also allow the company to have an edge over other music service companies in the market.

Six running experiences were introduced by Söderström for different types of runs.

Aside from the new features, Spotify head Daniel Elk said the company is working with Nike to enhance the connection between the Nike+ Run Club members with the music service. Elk revealed that the two companies are working at providing the best music experience to Nike+ members. The Nike+ app will be used by customers in accessing Spotify music.

The announcement of the company comes before the expected launch of a music service subscription by Apple. The company acquired Beats Music as part of its takeover of the parent company of the streaming service, Beats. Apple may re-launch the music service during its annual developers conference next month. It may be introduced as an embedded product in the iTunes app and iOS mobile OS.

However, the Spotify CEO did not appear anxious as he said the announcements are a massive leap forward for the company.
