Stock Futures Fluctuate Prior To Market Opening
Minor fluctuations were noted in major US stock futures prior to the opening of the market.
Dow Jones International Average Index stock future went down by 0.01 percent at 13,830 while the S&P 500 index stock futures remained unchanged at 1,497. On the other hand, stock futures of the Nasdaq-100 increased by 0.01 percent at 2,737.
The Dow Jones closed lower by 0.1 percent in the previous trading session while the S&P500 went down by 0.2 percent. It was more positive at the Nasdaq, which increased by 0.2 percent. It can be noted that the Dow Jones only closed lower in one of the last twelve trading sessions.
Yahoo shares increased by 4 percent during after-hours trading last Monday after the tech company released its earnings. The earnings of the pioneering Internet company surpassed forecasts of analysts after the markets closed. The fourth quarter profit of Yahoo was at $272 million and a revenue reaching $1.22 billion. Although the profit is lower than the $295 million last year, its revenue was higher compared to the $1.17 billion last year.
Benchmark oil for deliveries in March increased by $0.41 as it reached $96.85 at the New York Mercantile Exchange. Last Monday it increased by $0.56 as it ended at $96.84 per barrel at the NYMEX.
The two-day meeting of the policy committee of the Federal Reserve will end on Wednesday. The reports on the weekly jobless claims, fourth-quarter growth, and unemployment will be released by the government within the week, and it may have an effect on the US stock futures.
