Surface Book Unveiled By Microsoft

The first laptop of Microsoft, the Surface Book, was unveiled on Tuesday by the tech giant. The 13.5-inch device was described as the ultimate laptop by Panos Panay, head of devices at Microsoft. Panay added that the Windows 10-powered device is the slimmest and most powerful PC ever manufactured.

This is the first time Microsoft ventured into the laptop business, which was mainly the domain of its hardware partners who manufactured PCs using the Windows software of the company. With its first attempt in the laptop industry, Microsoft provided high-end components for its flagship device along with a snazzy design.

The screen of the Surface Book features six million pixels as well as the PixelSense touch and Gorilla Glass technology found on its Surface Pro 4 tablet. The Surface Pro 4 was launched prior to the introduction of the latest device at a New York event. The display is expected to be super-sharp since it features six million pixels.

The device can also be converted into a tablet by disconnecting the display from its base. Microsoft said this allows the device to be utilized as a clipboard when it is used with a Surface Pen stylus. The quiet keys of the device were also highlighted by the company. The device features backlit keys as well as a glass track pad.

Sixth-generation processors from Intel and the GeForce GPU of Nvidia are also featured in the device. The company also revealed that it is the fastest 13-inch tablet in the market and it is twice as fast as the MacBook Pro of Apple. It can also utilize the gaming capabilities of the Microsoft Xbox One and has a battery life of up to twelve hours.

The Surface Book has a price tag starting at $1,499 and is expected to reach the market by October 26.
