Suspended NFL Coach Sean Payton’s Bad Luck Goes On, Wife Files Divorce

NFL coaches, accordingly, put in such extended hours on two things in their life: family and football. These two things are not going smoothly for Sean Payton. The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports that Payton, who was suspended by the NFL for a year, has filed a divorce from his wife. The petition lists the grounds for divorce as "discord or conflict of personalities between Petitioner and Respondent that destroys the legitimate ends of the marriage relationship and prevents any reasonable expectation of reconciliation." The filings indicate that Payton has already moved out of his Westlake, Texas, home in the Dallas suburbs, where he lived with wife Beth Payton and their two children. The said year-long suspension will cost Payton about $5.8 million in salary, and will keep him away from the game for a year, which means that he won't be able to see or talk to countless friends and co-workers. Football, which has been taken away from him, is all Payton has ever done, going right into coaching after a brief playing career. And now, he is suffering from another blow in his life. Any man, who loves football all his life, and perhaps, loves his wife next to his career, would be depressed by this unhappy turn of events.
