Syria and Russia Condemns US Support For Rebels

Syria and their close ally Russia denounced the United States latest promise to provide direct help to rebels in non lethal form, saying it will only lengthen the conflict and increase violence.

Just a couple of weeks shy of the two year mark, the conflict doesn't appear to be any closer to its resolution as both rebels and government forces loyal to contested president Bashar al-Assad are continuing the bloody fighting that has claimed an estimate 70,000 lives so far.

Secretary of state John Kerry said after talks with the Turkish leaders in Turkey’s capital city Ankara that the United States will provide no less than $60 million in aid for the opposition in Syria.

The move appeared to be criticized by all as Russia called the decision unfortunate while opposition forces said that any help that doesn't provide weapons is not going to do them much good.

The latest help pledges make a considerable shift in the United States’ policy toward the rebels but aren't exactly what the rebels had expected.

In other talks held at the UN, Russia seems to be taking the blame for the continuous atrocities in Syria as they continue to veto a military intervention to remove current president Bashar al-Assad.
