Syria Protesters attack US embassy
The U.S. embassy compound in Damascus was damaged due to attacks made by Syrian pro-government protesters, this is according to several witnesses.
There was apparently a two-pronged demonstration that was made outside the French and American embassies in Damascus. These demonstrations were said to be made against the visits by the U.S. and French ambassadors last week. The said visits are made by the two countries to create a government organized talk in Damascus regarding the possible government reforms that could be made after the four months of unrest that has resulted from the regime of President Bashar Assad. President Assad is known to be an outspoken critic of the United States and Israel, and during his regime several protests were made in attempt to call for political reforms and reinstate civil rights.
Several witnesses mentioned that the protesters wrote anti-Us graffiti which refers to the U.S. ambassador as a “dog," they also smashed several windows and raised a Syrian flag on the said compound. There are also reports that security guards at the French Embassy have fired into the air to drive the protesters back.
Hiam al-Hassan, one of the witnesses estimated that there are about 300 people who gathered outside the French embassy and a hundred more at the American embassy.
