Tech Gadgets That Would Go Down the Drain by 2020

Some gadgets would be phased out or will experience total demise by 2020 because of the fast changing technology.

VCRs will join the fate of cassette players and transistor radios in the next few years. GPS Devices would be available in cars so there won’t be a need to buy those products whose only function is to tell directions.  However, some specific segments of customers will still be in demand for GPS system device.

E-Readers will undergo significant changes in short history because of the onslaught of tablet-hybrid devices and technology.  In fact, wasting your money on an e-reader that can only handle reading when tablets can do this and more seems as useless as buying a GPS system that only looks up directions when rival technologies do the same.  Still, there would be some e-readers on the market at the beginning of the next decade, but not that many.

Feature Phone

Several of these feature phones will be phased out due to the advancement of smartphones.

Low-End Digital Cameras

“Flip Cameras are already gone and now low-end camera functions are definitely being taken over by smartphones,” says Rob Enderle, Enderle Group’s principle analyst. Going forward, consumers will find it impractical to carry around a camera when they already have a phone in their pocket that takes quality pictures.

Video Games Consoles

Popular video game systems such as the Wii, Play Station and Xbox may still be in homes next decade, but they will look much different. Rather than buy a separate console, Enderle expects that consumers will instead buy smart televisions with a built in gaming system, not to mention tablets and smartphones that will continue to hype their gaming options.

DVD Players

A sure thing that would exist in the past is the use of CDs and DVDs to view and store content with the introduction of smartphones and state-of-the-art viewing facilities.
