Teresa Giudice Released from prison

The original sentence of Teresa Giudice was fifteen months, which was handed down by a federal judge after “The Real Housewives of New Jersey" pleaded guilty to four counts of a tax evasion and bankruptcy fraud investigation last year.

Teresa and Joe, her husband, were indicted for 39 counts of conspiracy to commit bank fraud, mail and wire fraud, bankruptcy fraud and making false statements on loan applications. Joe was also charged with failure to file federal income tax returns from 2004 up to 2008. Teresa Giudice pleaded guilty to four counts, which were part of a plea agreement. On the other hand, Joe pleaded guilty to five counts, one of which was failure to file income tax returns. The original plea of the couple was not guilty to all charges. However, if the two were found guilty of the initial charges they would spend a maximum of fifty years in jail along with million dollars worth of fines.

Aside from the prison time, the couple would have to make restitution to the target of the bank fraud, Wells Fargo. The restitution Joe and Teresa Giudice would pay amounted to $414,588. They were also required to pay fines. The salary of Teresa will be garnished to ensure the restitution.

Even as the couple avoided a foreclosure on their Towaco mansion, they have to settle a $551,563 tax lien filed by the Internal Revenue Service in October. Teresa was set to go back to Montville, New Jersey following her release. She will be placed on home confinement until early next year or until February 5.

One February 9, 2016, the tell-all book of Teresa, “Turning the Tables: From Housewife to Inmate and Back Again,” will be released into the market. She is anticipated to return to Bravo where she will have post-release interviews that will be sold to television. Her actual released was not filmed since cameras were disallowed.

Joe is set to start his own prison sentence of up to 41 months by March. The staggered sentences of the couple were allowed by the judge in consideration of the four children of Joe and Teresa Giudice.
