Thanksgiving Tragedy: Plane Crash in Phoenix Leaves 6 People Missing
Authorities reported, six people including three children, are missing after their small plane crashed in flames on high steeply peaks of Phoenix.
Recent reports stated that the two-engine aircraft came from Safford to Mesa’s Falcon Field to fetch 3 children for holiday thanksgiving. However, according to Pinal County Paul Babeu, the small plane crashed into an area of rugged peaks of the Superstition Mountains, specifically 40 miles east of downtown Phoenix at around 6:30 in the evening.
Likewise, witness to the fireball explosion stated that they heard the blast near the Flat Iron peak, close to Lost Dutchman State Park, according to Sheriff's spokeswoman Angelique Graham.
Further, Sheriff's spokesman Elias Johnson reported that a body of a child was recovered late Wednesday night from the terrible crash scene, but further details were not revealed. Children included in the accident were between the age of 5 and 9. The use of infrared devices is applied by rescue personnel in searching for the bodies, but unfortunately they were not able to detect any sign of movement. To reach the site, rescue personnel flew in by helicopter.
Sources said that the National Transportation Safety Board together with FAA will investigate on the cause of the crash.
