The Battle Between Microsoft And Blackberry Is Heating Up
With Apple and Google remaining at the top for now and probably quite some time to come, the battle for the third biggest smartphone platform seems to be between Blackberry and Microsoft.
Microsoft’s Windows Phone 8 released late last year seems to have made an important dent in the market and has surpassed their rivals' sales at least for the fourth quarter of 2012.
With Blackberry in one of the darkest periods of the company’s history with sales dropping constantly for a good period of time, the newly released BB 10 and the soon to be released Z10 and Q10 are the smartphone giant’s bets to regaining third place and maybe more.
Microsoft’s relatively new WP8 sales have been better than expected outselling the old WP7 who has been in stores for about two years, in just a couple of months.
The BB10 smartphone should come to U.S. stores in March, and is expected to compete with the WP8 and with other smartphones like the Nokia Lumia 920 and the HTC 8X who have registering good sale numbers.
Only time will tell what platform will take the third spot with both Blackberry and Microsoft having relatively fresh products out at about the same time.
