The Boston Attacks Makes Hotels Waive Fees
The tragedy surrounding the Boston attacks and the manhunt that has left a lot of victims, both on the attackers and on the Boston police side has made hotels take extra care of the people who has been stuck in the city due to circulation restrictions and to waive fees for clients who have been cancelling their reservations.
This was the second time this week big hotels like Marriot, InterContinental or Hilton have waived penalty fees for people who have cancelled their reservations.
Traffic in the Boston region was quite recently at a standstill with police forces guarding all roads that lead into or out of the city. Amtrack had also stopped the New York - Boston route for an indefinite time and even mass transit in the city was closed.
Even airlines have chosen not to impose penalties for people who have been cancelling their flights to and from Boston.
Hotels have also been taking extra precautions increasing security, dealing with the situation with a reduced staff because a lot of people couldn't make it to work due to the lack of mass transit.
Because of this, managers were helping staff clean rooms while also taking care of the front desk.
Also a number of extra TV’s was set in the lobbies for the stranded tourists. People was free to leave the hotels but with many shops closed due to the Boston attacks there wasn't much they could do outside.
