The Eagles Make Room For Both Vick And Foles
Philadelphia Eagles Coach Chip Kelly talked about the key quarterback position as he takes the helm of the team confirming that while Michael Vick will undoutably be the starting quarterback, Nick Foles will play an important part in the team this year.
The question of Foles leaving the Eagles was often heard last season and as a 24 year old QB with an impressive resume, he would have no problem finding a team, especially with one of his former collaborators like offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg.
However, after Chip Kelly’s latest press conference his position and importance for the Eagles was made clear and the fact that he won’t be going anywhere anytime soon is even clearer.
He is especially important to the team considering Vick’s predisposition for accidents. The 33 year old missed 12 of the 37 games he played as starting QB because of some type of injuries. He also has a less than impressive 24 interceptions for 23 games played, so whether it happens because of an injury or because of poor form, Foles might replace Vick as starting quarterback sooner than some people might expect.
Rookies Matt Barkley and Dennis Dixon are other options for the position and in the long run, the quarterback spot may be occupied by one of them and Nick Foles
