“The Office” Closes Its Doors After Nine Seasons

After nine seasons, “The Office” of NBC finally closed its doors with a nostalgic finale that featured the returned of the biggest star of the show, Steve Carell. The finale of the show also showed the wedding of Dwight Schrute, played by Rainn Wilson, and Angela Martin, played by Angela Kingsley.

The show was an adaptation of the British series of Ricky Gervais that had the same name. It documented the lives of the employees of the fictional Dunder Mifflin company, which was managed by Michael Scott, who was played by Carell.

Carell was a surprise guest to the wedding. Viewers of the show watched a number of fights, romances, and friendships throughout the nine seasons of the show. The most gripping storyline in “The Office” was the romance of Pam and Jim, played by Jenna Fischer and John Krasinski, as they started out as friends before they married and eventually became parents.

The season finale was seen as a happy ending for most of the members of the cast. A montage was also shown in the final scenes of the finale. “The Office” initially came out in 2005 and saw a number of its cast members become stars on their own. Steve Carell saw his breakout movie come out on the same year the show first aired. He left the show during the seventh season as he concentrated on his movie career.

In addition to Carell, Ed Helms also moved to the big screen with “The Hamgover” franchise. Krasinski also starred on “The Promised Land” together with Matt Damon. When Carell left the show in 2011, the number of viewers of “The Office” went down to around four million viewers last season from its highest level of eight million in 2009.

Wilson said that the time was perfect for the show to end. The city of Scranton in Pennsylvania also became an unlikely star of the show. With the end of “The Office,” the people of Scranton gave an inspiring send-off to the show that changed its image forever.
