Alongside the long list of your family members and friends, there is one equally important to be given a gift to — your boss.  This may sound silly, but it’s true.  It’s not the idea of giving to your boss just to be close to him or her.  It’s just the idea of giving.  Period.

There is also the question of whether or not you should give a gift to your boss.  It depends entirely on the corporate culture of the company.  Some companies may even have the rule in terms of gift giving.  Consult employees who have been working in the company for quite some time for some tips on what to give to your boss.

Some tips on gift giving would be to become equally professional and friendly at the same time.  Gifts shouldn’t be too expensive or too personal.  It means give gifts to your boss (or bosses) that are fairly generic.

Here is a very short list of possible gifts that you can give to your boss — Christmas season or not.

Coffee Mugs

You should know whether your boss is a coffee drinker or not.  If he is, then the right gift for him would be decent coffee mugs which are available in any gift shops.  This may come in any color, but try to remember the key word — decency.

Desktop Adornments

Gifts to brighten up the table or cubicles are also always a good idea, especially since a decorated table or cubicle can help ease us the office stress or tension.  Included to this list is an intricate yet useful paperweight with designs.  Choose colors that would suit to your bosses’ lifestyles or personalities.

Shoe Bag

If your boss has to travel long to and fro work, a very good shoe bag would make him happy.  Equally, if he is fond of going to the gym after the long day of work, this might be the best gift that you can give to your boss.
