The Weeknd Goes Back To First Club He Performed In
The Weeknd can now be considered as certified chart-topper after he released his second album, “The Beauty Behind The Madness,” recently. The Toronto native has not been able to have time to pay a visit to his hometown for some time after having risen from being a cult favorite into a certified superstar.
However, the Canadian singer, whose real name is Abel Tesfaye, did not forget his roots. To commemorate the release of his latest LP, he went back to the Toronto club where he had his first gig in 2011.
The singer performed at the Mod Club, where his first real show was held. In addition to performing at the club where his career started, he also wore the same jacket he wore when he went on stage four years ago. His getup calls mind a lyric from the new song of The Weeknd, “Tell Your Friends,” saying, ”I’m still rocking camo.”
The star thought about the significance of his concert at the club on Instagram. He wrote that he could not explain the feeling and the first time he showed his face to his fans in a performance was in 2011. He also considered the Mod Club a significant part of his life.
During his performance of “The Hills,” he stopped the song in the middle of the chorus and started it again as he told the audience to get crazy. The audience responded positively to his command.
He also told the crowd that they were going back to 2011 before he performed “High For This,” the opening track of his House of Balloons mixtape in 2011. The Weeknd also brought the audience back to 2011 when he performed “House Of Balloons/Glass Table Girls” at the club.
