Three New Nikon Lenses Introduced

Three new Nikon lenses were introduced to the F-mount Nikkor range of the company. One of these lenses has a reasonable price tag for the DX Nikon line of SLRs. The AF-S DX Nikkor 16-80 mm f/2.8-4E ED VR can be considered as a considerable upgrade when it comes to light-gathering capabilities and coverage. It has a view angle similar to the 24-120 mm lens of a full-frame camera. The 1.2-foot minimum focus distance of the lens offers a 1:4.5 macro magnification at the long end of the lens.

The new Nikon lens utilizes 72 mm front filters whiles its aperture features a 7-blade design. The vibration reduction has a four-stop stabilization rating. The tripod VR mode of the lens is also capable of reducing vibration. A fluorine coat provides extra protection to the front and rear elements of the lens, which uses the Nano Crystal Coat of Nikon.

The E in the name of the lens indicates that the aperture is controlled electronically, which facilitates consistent exposure when using the continuous drive mode. The D300 DX SLR along with the D3000, D5000, and D7000 series are compatible with this particular lens. It has a price tag of $1,149.95 and will enter the market by July 16.

The two other new Nikon lenses are considered the lighter versions of current telephoto prime lenses. The AF-S Nikkor 600 mm f/4 E FL ED VR and AF-S Nikkor 500 mm f/4 E FL ED VR weigh 2.8 and 2 pounds lighter than current lenses, respectively. These new lenses offer four vibration reduction stops, better autofocus speed, and the Nano Crystal Coat. They also have a tripod collar featuring ball bearings to facilitate smooth operation and are made of magnesium alloy.

The two new Nikon lenses also offer the same control system as the 16-80 mm as well as the limitations to the camera bodies that can use them. But, they are also compatible with the D3 and any FX series SLR. The 500 mm has a price tag of $10,999.95 while the 600 mm is priced at $13,499.95, and will enter the market on July 16.
