Tiger Woods Wins His Fourth Tournament For The Year

The Players Championship ended last Sunday with Tiger Woods lording it over his rivals with his 13-under 275. The latest win of Woods is his fourth in seven for the year. The wins come after a two-year winless drought for the one of the greatest active golfers in the world.

He has a better career winning percentage compared to Jack Nicklaus, Sam Snead, and Ben Hogan. However, the latest win did not come easy for Woods.

He had a double-bogey in the 14th that went under water. As he took the drop, images of the incident at the Masters came back where he took an improper drop. He was given a two-stroke penalty since he was asked by the rules committee of the Augusta National after he signed the scorecard.

Miscues by David Lingmerth, Jeff Maggert, and Sergio Garcia paved the way for Tiger Woods to the championship. Lingmerth and Maggert were two strokes behind Woods. On the other hand, Garcia six strokes behind as he ended up in eighth place. He ended the tourney with a double-bogey in the last hole.

Having Woods as a partner means having to deal with a rowdy gallery, which may compel some players to lose their concentration in the game. The playing partners of Woods in the final-group pairings ended up breaking par in his last three wins for this year. The same thing happened to Wittenberg, who finished in eighth place together with Garcia.

Wittenberg revealed that playing with Tiger Woods may be stressful, but it is also a chance to learn something from him. However, Garcia did not share the same sentiment as he described Woods as not the nicest person on the tour. He added that they do not enjoy each other’s company.

Despite this antagonism from Garcia, it appears that the year is gradually becoming a good one for Tiger Woods, who said that he feels he is getting better as the year goes on.
