Title For New Batman And Superman Movie Released

The much anticipated release of the “Batman vs Superman” title was met with much disappointment by hardcore fans of the two franchises, a reaction that was best seen on social media websites. The “Man of Steel” sequel was nicknamed “Batman vs Superman” by just about everyone as a way to mark and celebrate the fact that the two superheroes will be appearing in the same movie together.

This Wednesday, however, fan fears that the upcoming movie might prove to be an immense flop became a little bit more legitimate as the official title, “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” was announced. The title news also came with the confirmation that filming is underway in Detroit’s metropolitan area.

The news lit up Twitter with fans and celebrities making fun of the movie’s title. Comedian Patton Oswalt said the movie will be “coming in September, to Lifetime Networks,” while other Twitter users joked that the new title sounds like “Steven Seagal’s comeback movie.” Other users said it sounded like a direct to DVD movie that could be found at a bargain bin while some complained about the dropped “s” and said they read “Batman 5 Superman.”

The Warner Bros press release also talked about the team behind the movie. Argo’s Chris Terrio was confirmed as the writer while Zack Snyder will helm the film.
