Tom Brady Leads Patriots Over Saints

The New England Patriots won against the New Orleans Saints with the 17-yard touchdown pass from Tom Brady. The pass to Kenbrell Thompkins capped the seventy-yard drive of the Patriots after they got the ball with over a minute left in the game.

New Orleans was leading 24-23 following the 34-yard touchdown pass of Drew Brees to Kenny Stills with less than 3 1/2 minutes to go in the game. A 39-yard field goal by Garrett Hartley padded the lead of the Saints to 27-23.

However, the winning drive of Tom Brady began when he completed a series of passes to Julian Edelman, Austin Collie and Aaron Dobson. Although he had two incomplete passes, Brady was able to connect with Collie for a first down on the 17.

This was followed by the winning touchdown pass to Thompkins at the end zone.

The solid defense of the New England Patriots also came into play as it prevented Jimmy Graham from getting a pass for the first time since his rookie season. Although Graham limped off the field following an interception by Kyle Arrington, he was able to return to the field.

The offense of the Patriots improved with two touchdowns by Stevan Ridley that gave them a 17-7 lead at the half.

The ball was controlled by the Patriots in the first half against the Saints, which was the leading NFL team in possession time prior to the game. New England also had a number of drives of at least 60 yards during the game. Although the Saints were behind by ten points at the half, they were able to tie the game with their initial two possessions during the second half.

A 3-yard pass by Brees to Travaris Cadet allowed the Saints to get the lead. The pass was the first reception or run of the running back for the season. Ridley was able to score two times within six minutes during the second quarter. Tom Brady was able to complete the last six passes on the second touchdown for a total of 64 yards for the New England Patriots.
