Tom Hanks And Steven Spielberg Reteam For Cold War Movie
Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg are preparing for a new project together. The two Oscar winners have collaborated in the past releasing giant hits like Saving Private Ryan, Catch Me If You Can or the 2001 miniseries called Band of Brothers.
Their current project is supposed to be a Cold War themed thriller. According to media reports Tom Hanks is attached to the yet nameless thriller while negotiations are still being carried out for Steven Spielberg to direct it.
The movie’s plot is based on a true story. The main protagonist will be James Donovan, who will be portrayed by Tom Hanks. In the movie he is a successful American lawyer that is contacted by the CIA during the Cold War period and asked to travel behind the Iron Curtain in order to negotiate the release of a spy-plane pilot that was shot down while flying over the airspace of the Soviet Union.
The script will supposedly be written by Matt Charman while the Dreamworks movie will be produced by Marc Platt. This is just one of the new projects Steven Spielberg is said to be considering. Other projects include a science fiction thriller called Robocalypse and a period piece on pre-colonial South America called Montezuma.
