Tom Hiddleston May Replace Daniel Craig As James Bond
Tom Hiddleston may be the next person to play the role of James Bond after Daniel Craig reportedly said he will not be appearing on another James Bond movie. Craig appeared on four movies, including “Spectre” in 2015.
The 48-year-old Craig reportedly turned down a $100 million deal for him to appear on at least two Bond movies, according to Mail Online. William Hill, a UK based bookmaker, indicated that Hiddleston may be the next Bond. Hiddleston appeared on the television adaptation of “The Night Manager” of John le Carre on BBC.
The other actors that may possibly succeed Craig are Aidan Turner, Tom Hardy and Idris Elba. The odds of Hiddleston succeeding Craig are at 1/4 while Turner is a 7/2 favorite. On the other hand, both Hardy and Elba have 9/1 odds.
Joe Crilly of William Hill said speculations have emerged on whether Daniel Craig will return for another Bond movie as well as a possible replacement if “Spectre” will be his last Bond movie. Crilly added that Hardy, Elba and Damian Lewis were early favorites to succeed Craig. But, it appears Tom Hiddleston is currently on the top of the list, Crilly said.
Rumors of the possible departure of Craig from the franchise came in October 2015 when he was promoting “Spectre.” He said he would rather slash his wrists than to appear on another movie in the franchise. He said he was over the role for the moment and he wanted to move on.
However, he clarified at The Today show in November where he said he thought it was too soon to consider another Bond movie after the exhausting “Spectre” shoot. He added that he had fun when he they made the movie and he did not want to think about it during that moment. He said he wanted to focus on other things and wanted to go home.
Daniel Craig made his first appearance as James Bond on “Casino Royale” in 2006. He also starred in the hugely-successful “Skyfall” in 2012, which earned a pair of Oscars including the Best Original Song for the single sung by Adele.
