Tom Jones Cancels finale concert due to severe dehydration
London — Tom Jones, 71 year old Welsh singer, was recovering Sunday in a Monaco hospital due to severe dehydration that caused him to cancel his concert Saturday in the glamorous Monaco. The Sex Bomb star, famed for his soulful voice and swivel-hipped moves, greatly apologized to his beloved fans through his website and denied the speculations by British press that he cancelled the concert in Monaco due to heart scare he suffered which he immediately denied.
Jones said he has no heart ailments or problems. Jones rose to stardom in 1964 with hit song It’s Not Unusual and many other hits. Jones, whose charisma and appeal is comparable to American singer Elvis Presley, has performed already in many of the world’s finest concert venues.
The Welshman singer blamed the high summer heat that causes him to be very ill after a very long successful concert tour where most of the locations are on the summer season. Jones had no choice but to cancel the Monaco concert show as advised by his doctors due to severe dehydration, his website said. Jones together with his band and all the staff and crew were all extremely disappointed on the cancellation of the show.
The Saturday Monaco concert show was the finale of his successful 90-day Praise and Blame Tour. Jones was already in good shape Sunday and recovering fast, a spokesperson in the Monaco Princess Grace Hospital said. However, no statement yet has been released on when the singer will be discharged from the hospital.
